CHEMICAL PEELS

Glycolic Acid Peel

Glycolic Acid is a "natural" acid called Alpha Hydroxy Fruit Acid (AHA). Skin peels performed with glycolic acid are safe and easily controlled. The benefits are numerous, while the incidences of side effects are low. THERE IS LITTLE OR NO LOST TIME IN RECOVERY.

Objectives
The purpose of chemical peels is to clean up the skin by using a chemical caustic applied carefully to the skin. Glycolic Acid peels will lighten brown spots and even out other irregularities in pigmentation to give the skin a more uniform color. The peel will refine pores, improve skin tone and texture, rejuvenate and repair sun damaged skin. These peels are especially effective in clearing acne, and also eliminating pre-cancerous lesions. Repetitive peels will also induce collagen formation.

Side Effects
Most patients can undergo glycolic peeling without any side effects. The treated skin is virtually normal in appearance. The fact that the patient underwent a peel in usually undetectable to others. Although rare, a patient may experience mild sloughing, producing some weeping or scabbing. Some redness is temporary and normal. Any of these side effects may be covered with make up.

Recommended Treatment
We recommend six light glycolic acid peels performed at two-week intervals beginning 14 days after the start of glycolic acid products at home treatment. Occasional glycolic peels can be performed, as one would a facial, to maintain beautiful skin. Glycolic acid peels can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands and arms.

These treatments are for cosmetic improvement and therefore are not billable to your insurance company.
