Candela Laser
Workshop to be given by Dr. Pilest on February 12th, 2005
at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa,
Huntington Beach, California, USA.
Laser
Treatment Removes Facial Lesions Without Side Effects
According to Nissan Pilest, M.D.
of Total Dermatology, advances in laser technology have given rise
to Candela Corporation's V-Beam.
"The V-Beam is an ultra-long
pulsed-dye laser treatment used to treat vascular lesions, including
facial veins, spider-leg veins, rosacea, reddened scars, stretch
marks, brown spots and birthmarks, Pilest said.
For more than 15 years, pulsed dye
lasers have been used to treat these conditions. According to Pilest,
although these lasers have an established record for safety and
effectiveness, there was always one major drawback - long - term;
post-procedural bruising which could last for up to two weeks.
"Candela has refined the technology
of " pulsed dye lasers, eliminating the unsightly side effect,
" Pilest said. "The V-Beam effectively targets vascular
lesions by specifically zoning in on them and gently heating them,
causing them to coagulate and be absorbed by the body during the
natural healing process, without bruising."
Before each laser pulse, the V-Bean
sprays a burst of cool liquid onto the skin, protecting the epidermis
and further adding to patient comfort.
Dr. Pilest is one of the only physicians
in Orange County offering the V-Bean laser treatment for vascular
lesions. He is a board-certified dermatologist and assistant clinical
professor of dermatology at the University of California, Irvine,
and other lasers.

Dr. Nissan Pilest of Total Dermatology has announced
a breakthrough in laser technology and skin rejuvenation. The latest
advancements in laser have given rise to the Smoothbeam, a new, non-invasive,
non-ablative (non-burning) way to treat your skin with no downtime.
Pilest, a board certified dermatologist with more
than 20 years experience in general and cosmetic dermatology, said
that traditionally, lasers have been used to resurface skin by ablating
(burning) successive layers of skin in order to remove wrinkles, sun
damage, acne-scars and brown spots. Often times, patients had to endure
extensive periods of recovery, including messy dressing changes and
weeping wounds for up to two weeks before they could resume normal
activities.
Now, with the availability of Smoothbeam, clients
can come in for a procedure during their lunch hour and return to
work the same days, Pilest said.
The way Smoothbeam works is that is stimulates natural
collagen production in deeper layers of the skin (dermis).
As people age, collagen production slows and skin
begins to sag and form wrinkles. When stimulating collagen production,
Smoothbeam can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and acne scarring
resulting in a smoother, firmer appearance.
Additionally, Pilest said he has found that when
combining Smoothbeam with botox injections and Microdermabrasion,
he is able to achieve the best possible results in on-invasive facial
rejuvenation.
While Botox functions to relax the muscles to expression
lines (the ones that are responsible for the wrinkles in the first
place), softening wrinkles and deep lines, Microdermabrasion mechanically
exfoliates the top layers of skin by gently "sand blasting "crystals
onto the skin.
The process results in diminished lines and wrinkles
and the correction of pigmentation irregularities, Pilest said.
According to Pilest, the combination of these three
procedures can improve the overall texture of skin, resulting in a
smoother, firmer, more youthful appearance and, best of all these.
And, best of all, these
Procedures can easily be performed during a lunch hour with no downtime.
Pilest was rated as "one of the Best Doctors
in Orange County" in a survey asking area physicians who they
would trust to treat them and their families. Furthermore, clients
can feel confident knowing that all laser procedures are performed
only by Pilest 0 not a technician.
The procedures are offered at Total Dermatology
at 16100 Sand Canyon, Suite 190, and Irvine.
