Omnilux Photo Therapy
Acne / Laser Healing / Collagen Stimulation / PDT with Levulan

The healing quality of light has been understood for centuries.
Omnilux Photo Therapy uses narrow band wavelength light to treat a wide variety of dermatological conditions ranging from skin rejuvenation to the medical destruction of non melanoma skin cancers.

Regenerate and Stimulate Collagen
Using a combination of different lights delivered at different times we are able to stimulate the cells that help counteract the effects of aging. Light enhances not only DNA synthesis, but also augments cellular tissue regeneration including collagen deposition.

Light at specific wavelengths is known to stimulate tissue and influence restructuring of collagen to firm skin tissue and minimize fine wrinkles. As we grow older, the cells that manufacture the skins supportive structures begin to slow down. Environmental damage from the sun speeds up this process and produces free radicals that damage the skin and the cells that synthesize collagen and elastin.

Using a combination of different lights delivered at different times we are able to stimulate these cells that help counteract the effects of ageing. Omnilux stimulates natural processes to rejuvenate the skin.

Our multi-wavelength Omnilux Light Therapy system provides initial effects you will see by way of a clearer, brighter and smoother complexion. In an independent study* over 80% of subjects reported a softening of fine lines after treatment and 75% reported improvement in skin softness and smoothness.

Accelerate "Wound" Healing
Many of the more effective procedures that counteract aging and alter skin structure and surface do so by purposefully "wounding" the skin tissue. Whether by the use of lasers, heat, light or chemicals, this controlled wounding elicits a response from the body that improves skin appearance and texture. Light accelerates the wound healing response and therefore offers an effective adjunctive therapy, pre and post laser surgery. Omnilux reduces pain, swelling and erythema (redness). OmniluxTM can be used with:

  • Fraxel Non-ablative Laser

  • Fraxel CO2 Re:pair Ablative Laser Fraxel CO2 Re:pair Laser

  • Chemical Peels

  • Intense Pulsed Light - IPL Photofacial

This gentle light therapy conditions the skin, reduces the side effects and speeds up the time your tissue takes to regenerate.

Omnilux treatments are included with your Fraxel CO2 Re:pair treatments. You will receive treatments immediately prior to, immediately after and at initial follow-up visits to help speed healing, reduce redness and support new collagen production. Since this premium light therapy is an important part of your Fraxel Re:pair procedure Dr. Pilest has chosen to add Omnilux Photo Therapy at no additional cost.

Study groups have shown that near Infra-red light (830nm, Omnilux plusTM) combined with 633nm, Omnilux ReviveTM red light accelerates the wound healing response and therefore offers an effective treatment for the healing of compromised tissue. European Clinical Data

Maintain Treatment Results
Omnilux can also be used in combination with your regular facial treatments and with injections such as BotoxTM and fillers, helping to maintain the effect of the treatment. Because the light stimulates deeper cellular improvements, you will see further results over the next 4 to 6 months.

Omnilux is a painless procedure with short treatment times of 10 to 20 minutes. No downtime or recovery for all indications except PDT.

Dual Wavelengths for Enhanced Light Therapy for Acne
Light therapy turns on the "self-destruct" mechanism for the P.acnes bacteria that causes breakouts of chronic acne.

Blue light has been a trusted favorite treatment for mild to moderate acne for a long time.

The addition of alternate red light treatments increases the effectiveness of acne light treatments by acting as an immediate anti-inflammatory. At Total Dermatology your light therapy may be preceded by Salipeel to unclog pores. Acne patients are discovering faster, more visible response to their acne clearing.

In investigative studies PhotoTherapeutics noted a mean clearance rate of over 82% at 12 weeks after the final treatment.

Maximize Effectiveness of Light Based  PDT for Acne and Actinic Keratosis

Omnilux PDT
is a light based photodynamic therapy for the resolution of acne, sun damage and actinic keratosis. The red light wave length of the Ominlux LED system drives the topical solutions deeper into the abnormal cells of acne and sun damaged skin. This increased penetration depth means more serious action on the cells that are to be destroyed.
